Need help with thinking through your teaching philosophy? Designing courses, assignments, and assessment? Creating dynamic experiences for your students? I work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and graduate students to help you rethink, reframe, and re-energize your course offerings. Whether you’re a brand-new educator or seasoned teacher, I offer a collaborative approach to taking stock of your skills, successes, and those things you find challenging, and kicking your practice up a notch!
I have convened workshops on history pedagogy for Loyola University, the University of Iowa, SUNY-Geneseo, and the University of Central Missouri. I’ve also consulted with faculty at Northern Arizona University, St Olaf College, and Perdue.
I’ve presented on pedagogy at the American Historical Association, the Organization of American Historians’ annual meeting, and the Illinois History and Social Science Teachers’ Conference. I was a historical and pedagogical consultant for Bringing History Home, an Iowa-based, ten-year professional development program for K-12 teachers, and for Iowa Native Spaces, a public humanities project headed by Professor Jacki Rand at the University of Iowa. I’ve also been proud to write content for the 11th grade social studies curriculum for the New York City Department of Education.
I’m available for one-on-one coaching, keynotes, and workshops.
